From the moment it was launched a few years ago until yesterday, the Lexus LC 500 was arguably the sexiest car in Malaysia, but that has changed with the arrival of its sexier, topless twin – the 2020 Lexus LC 500 Convertible.
Priced at RM1.35 million on the road without insurance, the 2020 Lexus LC 500 Convertible comes with a hydraulically operated soft top which features an innovative folding mechanism that allows it to open in 15 seconds and close in 16 seconds at speeds up to 50 km/h.
The soft top, which is constructed from a 4-layered material, can be opened or closed at speeds up to 50kmh for added convenience.
A tonneau cover is also incorporated to cover the roof storage space in order to give the LC 500 Convertible a neat appearance when the roof is opened.
Because of the soft top setup, the Lexus LC 500 Convertible weighs 100 kg more than its coupe sibling, at 2,035 kg.
Powered by a 5.0-litre V8 engine producing 470 hp and 540 Nm of torque, the Lexus LC 500 Convertible is capable of sprinting from 0 to 100km/h in 4.9 seconds, and achieving an electronically limited top speed of 270 km/h.
Paired with the engine is a 10-speed automatic gearbox which sends all the power exclusively to the rear wheels.
On the exterior, highlights include Lexus’ Spindle Grille, 3-beam LED projector headlights, LED taillights, a third brake light integrated into the edge of the trunk lid, 21-inch wheels, and like 10 colour options.
As for the interior, there are three colour options – Flare Red, Black, and OcherIn terms of interior colours, the LC 500 Convertible is offered in Flare Red, Black and Ocher.
The 2+2 cabin also features an eight-way power adjustable semi-aniline leather sports seats with heater and ventilation for the perfect driving position.
Other cool equipment include a Takumi designed gear shift that fits the driver’s palm perfectly, a 10.3-inch high-resolution split-screen multimedia display, voice-activated navigation system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, an 8-inch Digital Combination Meter, a Heads-up Display, and a 13-speaker Mark Levinson Reference Surround Sound System.
Where safety is concerned, the new LC 500 Convertible arrives with Lexus Safety System+ (LSS+) which includes Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert with Lane Keep Assist, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Automatic High Beams.
The vehicle is also equipped with a total of six airbags, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and active roll-bars as standard features.
Those who purchase the Lexus LC 500 Convertible will be able to enjoy a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty, plus free service throughout that duration or for its first 100,000km as long as it is cared for accordingly by trained Lexus professionals at authorised Lexus Centres.
