Mercedes-Benz Malaysia today announced the introduction of the all-new GLA, its entry level SUV which now comes with more space, more features, and a fresh new design.
The model is available in two variants:
- Mercedes-Benz GLA 200 Progressive Line – RM244,199 (without SST)
- Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 AMG Line – RM285,336 (without SST)
While the GLA 200 is equipped in Progressive Line with 18-inch 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels, the GLA 250 is equipped with AMG Line bodystyling and 19-inch wheels.
On the exterior, the 2020 GLA is now 1 cm shorter and 10 cm taller than the outgoing model, and comes with an upright front section, short overhangs at the front and rear, and protective cladding all round.
The taller height also translates into more cabin space, and speaking of cabin, the seating position is now higher as well. Legroom in the rear is likewise more generous, although it is now one and a half centimetre shorter.
Also available for the first time in the GLA is the MBUX infotainment system (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) with the latest generation of Mercedes me connect. Other safety and assistance systems include Blind Spot Assist with Exit Warning, and PRE-SAFE System.
Other key standard features include LED High Performance headlamps, two 10.25-inch displays, the latest generation of the Mercedes me connect, 40:60 split-folding rear seats, height-adjustable load floor, as well as Active Brake Assist and Blind Spot Assist that is exclusive to the GLA 250 AMG Line.
The GLA 200 Progressive Line is powered by the 1.3-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine combined with the 7G-DCT automatic transmission. It develops 163 hp and a maximum torque of 250 Nm, allowing the vehicle to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8.7 seconds.
Powering the GLA 250 4MATIC AMG Line on the other hand is a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with the 8G-DCT automatic transmission, rated at 224 hp and 350 Nm, accelerating the car from 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds.
