BMW Malaysia has unveiled the new BMW X1 sDrive20i xLine, further extending the brand’s line-up of compact SAVs that are assembled in the country. The new variant will represent the third generation of the BMW X1, featuring larger dimensions and a powerful appearance.
While the new BMW X1 sDrive20i xLine arrives with a new design and a more spacious interior thanks to the larger dimensions, the cabin of the X1 is further elevated with new additions of the BMW Curved Display and BMW Live Cockpit Plus, powered by the BMW Operating System 8.
Under the hood, there is a two-litre, four-cylinder Twin Power Turbo engine producing up to 204 hp and a peak torque of 300 Nm. Paired with a 7-Speed Steptronic Dual Clutch Sport transmission, the new X1 achieves a top speed of 236 km/h, and goes from 0 to 100 in 7.6 seconds. The new X1 also records a combined fuel consumption of 7.2 litres per 100km.
Design-wise, the new BMW X1 sDrive20i xLine features a large kidney grille with a Pearl Chrome frame and high-gloss Black slats, complemented by lines and surfaces that extend outwards in the shape of an X.
The outer air intakes come with distinctive chrome trims, while the surrounding trim parts at the bottom are in Dark Grey for a rugged contrast. Unique to the new SAV, the front features slender wraparound adaptive LED headlights with new daytime running lights in an eye-catching design.
The flared square wheel arches convey the characteristic BMW X look with new 19-inch light alloy wheels in V-Spoke Style 867 Bicolour, complemented by a stylised Matte Aluminium underride protection panel along with xLine bumpers in the front and rear.
Unique to the new X1 are also mirror covers in Glacier Silver and door sill panels with BMW designation in Matte Aluminium. As mentioned above, the new X1 also offers larger dimensions measuring 4,500mm in length, 1,845mm in width, 1,616mm in height and a wheelbase of 2,692mm. Maximum luggage space on the other hand, is rated at 1,527 litres.
The New BMW X1 sDrive20i xLine will be offered in five stunning colours, namely Black Sapphire, Alpine White, Cape York Green, Phytonic Blue and Space Silver, paired with Black Perforated Sensatec upholstery and M Headliner Anthracite.
In terms of comfort and style, owners can enjoy the new M leather steering wheel with shift paddles, two-zone automatic air conditioning and elevated front Sport seats in Sensatec for good all-round visibility, while passengers enjoy generous legroom in the rear.
Owners can also enjoy endless amount of personalisation via BMW ID, along with the six My Modes features comprising of Efficient, Sport, Relax, Expressive, Personal Mode and Art Mode. Connectivity is further enhanced with Comfort Access and the BMW Digital Key Plus that allows intelligent smartphone compatibility to unlock the vehicle hands-free while automatically activating the driver’s personal settings at the same time.
Assistance systems to look forward to in the new BMW X1 include the Driving and Parking Assistants, in addition to the standard Hill Start Assist, Speed Limiter, Attentiveness Assistant, Lane Departure Warning with active steering intervention, Front Collision and Left Turn Warnings – both with braking function, as well as the Evasion Assistant.
