Priced RM10,000 cheaper than the 3.0L V6 Petrol version, the Ford Ranger Raptor 2.0L Bi-Turbo diesel variant makes 210 PS and 500 Nm of torque

After much anticipation and high demand from customers, Ford Malaysia today introduced the diesel variant of the Ford Ranger Raptor.

Priced at RM248,888 on the road without insurance, the newly launched model is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, Bi-Turbo diesel engine which produces 210 PS at 3,750 rpm and 500 Nm from 1,750 rpm to 2,000 rpm.

Paired with the engine is a 10-speed automatic gearbox with SelectShift and paddle shifters. Also part of the powertrain package is an Electronic Shift-On-The-Go 4×4 shift system.

Designed to match its V6 counterpart, the Ranger Raptor 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel features the same reinforced chassis as the petrol version. It also features the same suspension setup with the new Fox 2.5-inch Internal Bypass shock absorbers in front, refined Watt’s link at the rear, and an advanced permanent 4WD system witn an all-new electronically controlled on-demand two-speed transfer case, combined with rear locking differentials.

The diesel-powered Ranger Raptor is also equipped with Fox’s race-proven Bottom-Out Control and a 2.3 mm-thick high-strength steel bash plate, along with an undershield and transfer case shield. Also standard are twin-rated tow hooks at the front and rear for flexible recovery.

Similar to the V6 variant, the diesel variant comes with the updated Terrain Management System with seven selectable drive modes, but without the active valve exhaust system. The seven drive modes are Normal, Sport, Slippery, Rock Crawl, Sand, Mud/Ruts, and Baja.

Each drive mode comes with different engine and transmission adjustments, as well as different ABS sensitivity, throttle response, steering feel, and also different graphics on the instrument cluster and the central touch screen. Additionally, the Baja mode comes with an anti-lag system which allows drivers to resume acceleration faster out of corners.

On the exterior, the diesel variant is almost identical to the petrol version, featuring flared wheel arches, a bumper that is separated from the grille, Matrix LED headlights with C-shaped DRLs, as well as 17-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain KO2 tyres. Also standard are the Ford Performance scuff plates, new cast aluminium side steps, and LED lights all around.

Inside, we have a 12-inch central vertical touch screen display, a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, BAng & Olufsen audio system with eight speakers, four USB charging ports, a wireless charger, a 12-volt power socket, and a 360-degree camera.

Safety features include seven airbags, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane Centering functions, Emergency Stop Signal, Blind Spot Information System, High Beam Assist, Reverse Brake Assist, Evasive Steer Assist, as well as Cross-Traffic Alert.

Available in six colours (Code Orange, Absolute Black, Arctic White, Blue Lightning, Conquer Grey), the Ford Ranger Raptor 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel comes with a five-year / 160,000 km warranty. Owners can also opt for a seven-year coverage with the PremiumCare extended warranty package.
