UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has officially launched the latest versions of Malaysia’s favourite luxury MPVs, the all-new Toyota Alphard and Vellfire.
Although they look quite similar to the outgoing versions, the all-new Vellfire and Alphard have been completely rebuilt from the ground-up, featuring new design, new safety features, enhanced level of luxury and refinement, as well as many new features.
Also, the addition of turbocharging on the Alphard combined with the new gearbox resulted in a significant increase in torque and power.
Underpinned by Toyota’s TNGA-K platform, the Alphard’s exterior highlights include the Tri-LED headlights and LED DRLs that are neatly integrated together, matching LED taillights, a striking yet elegant and huge front grille, sharper character lines, as well as 19-inch wheels.
The Vellfire on the other hand, comes with a front grille, fog lamps, headlights and taillights that look different. The only exterior feature that is identical on both variants are the 19-inch wheels.
Stepping into the interior cabin, the Alphard and Vellfire both get a 14-inch Display Audio system with Touch Screen, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto Connectivity, a 15-speaker JBL sound system, wireless charging, 8 Way-Powered Driver’s Seat with Memory Function, 4 Way-Powered Passenger Seat, 64-colour ambient lighting system, a 12.3-inch Full Color TFT instrument panel, powered sliding doors, and a steering wheel wrapped in leather with wooden grain.
Exclusive to the Alphard are features like paddle shifters, an additional HDMI port, electrostatic switches, Quiet sliding doors, Nappa Leather upholstery (Vellfire gets synthetic leather), powered Executive Lounge VIP Seats in the second row (Vellfire gets Executive Power seats operated manually), rear remote controls, built-in seat-tables, heating for the Ottoman, massage seats, as well as the 14-inch Rear Seat Display.
The powertrain packages are also different for both models. While the Alphard comes with a turbocharged 2.4-litre engine and an 8-speed automatic gearbox producing 278 hp and 430 Nm of torque, the Vellfire gets a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre engine and a CVT producing 182 PS and 270 Nm of torque.
Where safety is concerned, both models are equipped with advanced Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 technology, including enhanced Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert, Road Sign Assist, and Adaptive High-beam System, safety remains paramount without compromising on the luxurious experience.
Both models are offered in four exquisite colors – Platinum White Pearl, Precious Metal, Precious Leo-Blond (Alphard only), and Black.
