BMW Malaysia today introduced the updated iteration of the BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport with enhanced charging capabilities and more streamlined functionality.
The BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport now comes equipped with the AC Charging Professional as standard, presenting exceptional improvements to the vehicle’s charging proficiency that befits an exclusive sedan.
This new feature allows for significantly reduced charging times, whether at home or public AC chargers, with the newly equipped 22 kW charging capabilities. This results in a more efficient and convenient charging experience, with a 0-100% charge now achievable in under 4 hours and 15 minutes.
An 11kW AC Charger, on the other hand, can charge the EV from 0 to 100% in 8 hours and 15 minutes. Furthermore, the BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport will continue to arrive equipped with high-power DC charging of up to 205 kW, accelerating its charging from 0% to 80% charge in just 34 minutes.
BMW i5 owners can also experience charging access at more than 1,700 charging stations nationwide, facilitated through BMW Malaysia’s partnerships with leading local EV charging providers. Collaborations with ChargeEV and Yinson GreenTech alone grant access to over 400 charging stations, while partnerships with JomCharge, Gentari, ChargeN’Go, ChargeSini, Go To-U, and FlexiParking contribute approximately 160 more facilities throughout the country.
The BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport retains its maximum output of 340 hp, coupled with an exceptional electric range of up to 582 km. The EV also continues to host its high-voltage battery situated in the underbody, which boasts an optimal battery capacity of 83.9kWh. Adding to its thrilling performance, the BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport harnesses a peak torque of 430Nm in Sport Boost, propelling from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds and reaching a top speed of 193km/h.
On the exterior, the BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport features vertical LED strips adorning its headlights. The kidney grille, which draws stylistic inspiration from the iconic “Sharknose” design, pairs with the BMW Iconic Glow contour line. Further dignifying the overall aesthetics is the M high gloss Shadowline.
Inside, the BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport retains the BMW Operating System 8.5, which displays a plethora of unique digital innovations for optimal driver connectivity, such as the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, BMW Maps and the Digital Key Plus with security optimised Ultra-Wideband (UWB) radio.
Also present is the BMW Curved Display front and centre, boasting a 12.3-inch instrument panel with a 14.9-inch touchscreen Control Display – consisting of both intuitive interaction and a fully digital communication via natural language and touch commands. Enhancing the driving experience with crystal clear sound is the Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound System, boasting 18 speakers and an amplifier output of 655 Watts.
The BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport is also equipped with an array of advanced safety and driver support technologies, designed to enhance the driving experience during long journeys and city commutes, including Proactive Care – a pioneer customer service feature in the Premium Ownership Experience, Driving Assistance Professional, Speed Limit Assist, route control and active navigation guidance, Side Collision Protection, Road Priority Warning and Wrong-way Warning, Crossing-traffic Warning with braking function all arriving as standard.
Additionally, the BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport now arrives in four new striking colour options, namely, Sophisto Grey Metallic, Oxide Grey Metallic, Cape York Green Metallic, and Fire Red Metallic.
