5 Cool Facts about the Volvo XC40 Recharge EV

Volvo XC40 Recharge

Volvo Car Malaysia recently welcomed the Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric to Malaysia with an asking price of RM262,459.

Available for booking at all Volvo showrooms nationwide as well as the company’s website, there are a few interesting facts about the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric which make it a bit more special than its rivals which were launched recently.

Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric

It is the first locally assembled EV in Malaysia

First and foremost, the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric is officially the first locally assembled electric vehicle (EV) in Malaysia. This makes the EV’s local launch a pretty big deal for VCM as the company managed to do it before Mercedes-Benz or BMW could do it with their EVs.

With its capabilities to assemble pure EVs through its own local assembly plant, Volvo Car Malaysia also revealed that it will be exporting electric vehicles to markets within the ASEAN region from Malaysia.

It is priced competitively

The price tag of RM262,459 on the road without insurance and SST is about RM16,000 cheaper than the Mercedes-Benz EQA 250 which asks for RM278,201.

Compared to the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the XC40 Recharge is only around RM2,000 more than the highest-spec Ioniq 5 Max which is priced at RM259,888.

It has all-wheel-drive

Based on the XC40 compact premium SUV, the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric features a fully electric all-wheel-drive powertrain that offers a range of up to 418 km on a single charge.

It is worth mentioning here that the only other rival model with AWD is the range-topping Hyundai Ioniq 5 Max.

It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds

Thanks to the combined system output of 408 PS and 660 Nm of torque, the Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric is capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in an impressive 4.9 seconds.

If we are to compare it with its rivals, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 Max which produces 305 PS and 605 Nm does the century sprint in 5.2 seconds.

Meanwhile the Mercedes-Benz EQA 250 which produces 190 PS and 375 Nm is the slowest here, sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds.
