Toyota Recalls 2018 Hilux, Fortuner

UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT), the sole distributor of Toyota and Lexus vehicles in Malaysia today announced a Special Service Campaign (SSC) on the Hilux and also the Fortuner in order to inspect and replace the brake booster on both models.

The condition involves the resin pistons in the brake booster of the subjected vehicles, where the vehicles could experience compromised braking performance.

According to UMWT, a total of 12,997 units of vehicles will be involved in this campaign, comprising 11,571 Toyota Hilux and 1,426 units of the Fortuner.

It is said that the affected models were produced between July 2018 and January 2019, and distributed by UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd.

Models that were not mentioned above are not affected by this campaign.

UMW Toyota Motor will send an owner notification letter to the affected vehicle owners to have the vehicle rectified at no charge. For further information, owners of affected cars may contact any authorised Toyota Service Centre.

UMW TOYOTA MOTOR ANNOUNCES SPECIAL SERVICE CAMPAIGN ON HILUX & FORTUNER BRAKE BOOSTER INSPECTION & REPLACEMENT

Shah Alam, 2 December 2020 – The safety of our customers is always Toyota’s top priority. UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT), distributor of Toyota and Lexus vehicles in Malaysia, today announced a Special Service Campaign (SSC) on Hilux and Fortuner brake booster inspection and replacement.

Based on the information received from Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), there are 12,997 units of vehicle involved in this campaign, Toyota Hilux (11,571 units) and Fortuner (1,426 units) distributed by UMWT and production range July 2018 to Jan 2019 are involved in this campaign. Model not listed here are not affected by this campaign.
