Mercedes-Benz will reveal the new 2021 W206 C-Class in a digital world premiere on Tuesday, February 23rd.
No details have been unveiled officially but the folks at Stuttgart have made it clear that the car will be more digital, more comfortable, more intelligent, more fuel efficient, more luxurious, and of course, sportier than the outgoing W205 C-Class we have now.
We can expect many new features and technology from the recently unveiled all-new Mercedes-Benz S-Class to trickle down to the all-new C-Class, ranging from the design, all the way to the infotainment system.
What’s new
From what we can see in the teaser image that was shared earlier today, the all-new C-Class will feature a sleeker and more streamlined design, which will be further complemented by the more aerodynamic silhouette, the slim LED headlights and taillights, new wheels, new grille design, and the addition of new colours.
As for the interior, we can expect the all-new C-Class’ cabin to be more spacious, and similar to the S-Class, it will look more futuristic than ever with a huge central touch screen display replacing all the buttons, and the dual screen that will pretty much take up more than half of the dashboard. It is said that there will also be a new steering wheel and new upholstery options.
Thanks to the tweaked MRA platform that will underpin the new C-Class, occupants, especially rear passengers can expect more head and leg room than the current C-Class that is quite cramped up in the rear. Measuring 4,751 mm long with a 2,865 mm wheelbase, the new C-Class is also 65 mm longer than the current model, which could also mean a bigger boot.
Powertrain
Under the hood, rumour has it that the new C-Class will be getting a full range of four-cylinder engines instead of six-pot mills. We can also expect electrification and mild-hybrid technology to be thrown in the mix, in line with the brand’s future plans that is all about e-mobility.
As usual, we can expect regular models as well as the manic performance oriented C43 and C63 AMG variants to be offered, but the AMG brethren will most likely come only at a later date.
The new model generation is also the manufacturer’s first series to be electrified throughout. As an additional highlight, the new C-Class, following the new S-Class, is also equipped with the second generation MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience).
