Say hello to the all-new BMW M4 Competition Convertible with M xDrive, the latest version of the M4 to join the lineup.
According to BMW, the M4 Competition Convertible with M xDrive breaks new ground for the M brand as the open-top high-performance sports car comes with all-wheel drive system.
Production starting in July 2021
All set to make its global debut and enter production in July 2021, the M4 Convertible comes with a Panel bow soft top which combines the practical benefits of a retractable hardtop with the classically elegant aesthetic of a fabric hood.
It is said that the M4 Competition Convertible’s soft top is 40 per cent lighter than the predecessor’s roof, while the boot capacity has grown by 80 litres.
The soft top can be opened or closed in 18 seconds, even when moving, thanks to its electric drive mechanism.
Exterior
According to BMW, the signature M exterior features play an authentic role in meeting the requirements of a high-performance sports car, with key features including the large, vertical BMW kidney grille in M-specific design, the large cooling air intakes for engine and brakes, the powerfully contoured wheel arches, and the distinctive M Side Gills.
And then we have the exhaust system’s two pairs of tailpipes integrated into M-specific diffuser, and the prominently extended side sills which combine with attachment parts for front and rear aprons to form a black band encircling the body.
Powertrain
Power comes courtesy of a six-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, producing 510 hp and 650 Nm, which is 60 hp over the predecessor model.
Further complementing the engine is an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, an exhaust system with electrically controlled flaps, M xDrive all-wheel-drive system, Active M Differential, three driving modes, a model-specific chassis setup, bespoke axle geometry and steering ratio, Adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers, and an M Servotronic steering with variable ratio as standard.
There is also an integrated braking system with two settings for pedal feel and response, and M Compound brakes as standard. Last but not least, we have forged M light-alloy wheels measuring 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear as standard.
Newly developed M Sport seats
Moving into the cabin, the M4 Competition Convertible comes with M-specific displays and controls, newly developed M Sport seats, and Extended Merino leather trim as standard.
BMW is also offering an extensive selection of driver assistance systems to boost long-distance comfort and safety under the Driving Assistant Professional suite (including Steering and Lane Control Assistant, Active Navigation function and Emergency Lane Assistant).
Parking Assistant with Reversing Assistant features however, are available as options.
Other standard specification includes three-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, hi-fi speaker system, plus BMW Live Cockpit Professional featuring fully digital display grouping, cloud‑based navigation system BMW Maps and BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.
