BMW has unveiled the new BMW iX3 electric SUV in Europe.
The new BMW iX3, which is the first model to feature fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology with up to 460 km range, will be produced at BMW’s Shenyang facility in China both for the local market and for export.
Exterior
On the exterior, the iX3 now comes with a larger BMW kidney grille, slimmer headlights, and a newly sculpted front apron. At the rear, we have redesigned 3D LED rear lights as well as model-specific accents in BMW i Blue at the front and rear.
Offered with the M Sport package as standard, the new BMW iX3 sports new 19-inch aerodynamic wheels as standard. Adaptive LED Headlights also included as standard. BMW Laserlight can be ordered as an option.
Inside, taking centre stage is a full digital screen grouping now with a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, and an enlarged control display matching its dimensions.
Interior
And then we have a newly designed control panel on the centre console for the gear selector lever, BMW Controller, Start/Stop button and the buttons for the Driving Experience Control switch, and parking brake.
Also offered as standard are the sport seats in the new Sensatec perforated upholstery variant and interior trim strips in the new Aluminium Rhombicle dark finish.
Further complementing the whole package are the BMW i Blue accents on the gear selector lever, Start/Stop button and steering wheel.
Powertrain
Powering the new BMW iX3 is the highly integrated drive system that comprises an electric motor, transmission and power electronics that collectively produce a maximum output of 286 hp and 400 Nm of torque.
Power is sent to the rear wheels, enabling the iX3 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds.
The Combined Charging Unit enables direct current (DC) fast-charging at a rate of up to 150 kW. 10-minute fast charge adds around 100 kilometres of range in the WLTP cycle.
Two equipment lines
Customers who opt for the new iX3 can choose between two equipment lines.
Firstly, there is “Inspiring” which includes metallic paintwork, adaptive suspension, automatic tailgate operation, a panoramic glass roof, electrically adjustable seats, a sport leather steering wheel, a storage package and a three-zone automatic climate control system with pre-heating and pre-conditioning function.
The second is the “Impressive” equipment line which adds 20-inch light-alloy wheels, acoustic glazing, Vernasca leather trim, BMW Head-Up Display, Harman Kardon Surround Sound System, and BMW IconicSounds Electric.
Driver assistance
The model also offers a wide selection of driver assistance systems as standard, including Driving Assistant Professional with the Steering and Lane Control Assistant, Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function, automatic Speed Limit Assist and route monitoring.
Also standard are features like Parking Assistant with Reversing Assist Camera, and Reversing Assistant.
BMW Live Cockpit Professional with cloud-based navigation system BMW Maps and BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant are also offered as standard.
As far as infotainment and mobile connectivity are concerned, the new iX3 comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, Remote Software Upgrade, and other digital services from BMW Connected.
