After months of teasing and playing with our feelings, Honda Malaysia today finally launched the Honda City Hatchback which will be replacing the Honda Jazz in Malaysia.
Available as a regular petrol version and also a hybrid, the variants and their prices are as mentioned below:
- Honda City 1.5S – RM75,670
- Honda City 1.5E – RM83,080
- Honda City 1.5V – RM87,860
- Honda City RS e:HEV Hybrid – Price to be announced next year
Powering the City Hatchback is the same 1.5-litre four-cylinder DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine producing 121 PS at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm, which is mated to the same CVT as the City sedan.
The City Hatchback RS e:HEV version on the other hand is powered by an Atkinson-cycle version of the aforementioned 1.5-litre engine that produces 98 PS and 127 Nm of torque, and an electric motor that churns out 109 PS and 253 Nm of torque. Paired to the powertrain is an e-CVT gearbox.
On the exterior, the All-New City Hatchback RS e:HEV sports a High-Gloss Piano Black Front Grill, Black Solid Wing and Gloss Black Door Mirrors, for a two-toned colour expression.
It will also feature RS exclusive shape in the areas of Lower Grill, Fog Garnish and Rear Bumper. The Rear Bumper is specifically designed for hatchback and equipped with a diffusor.
The exterior of RS e:HEV and V variants will receive LED Headlights with LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL), LED Front Fog Lights, LED Rear Combi Lights and is fitted with attractive 16-inch Alloy Wheels that complement the appearance of the car.
Inside, the model will come with the 4-Modes Ultra Seats. This practical and versatile first in its class feature allows the rear seats to be folded flat or flipped up in four configuration modes; Utility, Long, Tall and Refresh, to suit different needs of storage space by maximizing the rear space creatively when transporting items.
Another first-in-segment feature in the All-New City Hatchback is the Remote Engine Start (RS e:HEV & V), which provides added convenience, enabling the driver to remotely activate the engine and air-conditioning before entering the car.
The Rear Air Conditioning Ventilation provides added comfort and convenience for the rear seat passengers, in addition to the Electric Parking Brake (EPB) feature that enables the driver to activate and deactivate the parking brake with a lift and push of a button is exclusively available in the RS e:HEV.
The All-New City Hatchback is also the first in its segment to offer the most complete package of Next Generation Advanced Safety Technology – the Honda SENSING.
Its advanced safety system utilizes front wide view camera to better recognize road boundaries during day and night driving conditions. The Honda SENSING driver assistance safety systems in the All-New City Hatchback RS e:HEV are as below:

Available in five colour options (Ignite Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, Meteoroid Grey Metallic, and Crystal Black Pearl, the Honda City Hatchback comes with a five-year unlimited-mileage warranty and five times free labour for servicing. As for the Hybrid, there is an eight-year, unlimited-mileage warranty for the battery.
Having received over 2,000 bookings since last month, Honda Malaysia aims to sell 1,000 units of the City Hatchback per month. The company said that deliveries will start taking place only in 2022.
