Modenas Dominar D400 Adventure

The Modenas D400 is a touring model that doesn’t need any further introduction, received a major update in 2021 where the Modenas Dominar D400 was upgraded in its hardware system that includes an increase in power.

During the Malaysia Autoshow 2023, EMOS launched the updated version of the EURO 4 Dominar D400 model with the same set of touring accessories previously introduced in India.

The list includes a taller windscreen, new handguards, leg guards, an engine bash plate, and a passenger backrest, which allows the rider or passenger to recline against it while riding. The model also sees fitment of a smartphone / navigator mount with accessible USB charging port.

Apart from these details, the rest of the features remain unchanged. The bike will continue with its liquid-cooled 373cc DOHC FI engine that delivers 29.4kW of power and 35Nm of torque. Other features, include a 43mm Upside Down (“USD”) front suspension backed-up with a single Nitrox monoshock at the rear seat. It also comes with a twin-barrel exhaust system for a throatier exhaust note. The Modenas Dominar D400 also features a 320 mm front and 230 mm rear sized disc brakes; paired to a “dual channel” Anti-Lock Brake (“ABS”) system.

The Modenas Dominar D400 is available in two new colour options, namely – “Savanna Green” and “Charcoal Black”; with a recommended selling price of RM15,797 (excluding insurance and road tax). The model will be available for purchase at all MODENAS authorised dealership from this month onwards.

Aside from the Modenas Dominar D400 Adventure model, the Malaysian market finally welcomes the much-awaited smaller member of the Dominar family, the Modenas Dominar D250.

Modenas Dominar D250 – RM13,797

Modenas Dominar D250

The Modenas Dominar D250 gets a smaller numerical value for the suffix, but the dimension stays identical to the Modenas Dominar D400 just like the design. Body panels like front mudguard, headlamp, fuel tank capacity, dual-barrel exhaust muffler and more are like its older brother, the Modenas Dominar D400.

The model is fitted to a dual-spark head, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 249cc DOHC FI engine which produces 19.9kW of power at 8500 RPM and 23.5 Nm of torque at 6500 RPM. The 6-speed gearbox feels slick and comes equipped with a slipper clutch as standard.

The Modenas Dominar D250 shares its ergonomics with the Modenas Dominar D400, which corresponds to similar riding dynamics. The biggest standout points between the two, other than the new engine, is the new 37mm USD front suspension fork that the model receives.  Aside from that, the aluminium swing-arm has also been replaced with a conventional box-section type unit.

Weighing at 180 kg, the Modenas Dominar D250 is now 7 kg lighter than the predecessor, which means it is more agile than the Modenas Dominar D400 while changing directions.

This 250cc adventure touring motorcycle may be down on engine size, but it promises to offer the same long-distance touring ability and comfort that the Modenas Dominar D400 is known for.

The Modenas Dominar D250 will be available in three new colour schemes – “Sparkling Black”, “Racing Red” and “Citrus Rush”; priced at RM13,797 (excluding insurance and road tax). The model will be available for purchase at all MODENAS authorised dealership from this month onwards.
