Toyota remains positive despite sales drop in April

Toyota is confident that it would achieve its annual sales target despite the dip

UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) recently announced that it has its eyes set on long-term growth and remains confident in its overall performance, projecting a positive increase of 9% in year-to-date sales registered for April 2023 compared to April 2022, despite a modest 3% decrease in month-over-month sales in April 2022.

With a total sales of 6,681 Toyota and 86 Lexus new vehicles sold, it remains on course to achieving its mid-year target even with the shorter operating month in April 2023.

“We remain confident in our ability to deliver strong year-on-year growth,” said Datuk Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor. “We have also seen promising response to our new models launched in quarter one of 2023, particularly the All-New Toyota Vios, and we expect this to contribute to our continued growth throughout the year.”

Datuk Ravindran K. also reiterated his assurance on the safety and quality standards of the All-new Toyota Vios. “We would like to assure you that the All-New Toyota Vios complies with all safety regulations and there is no compromise to the quality of the vehicle. The safety of our customers and our vehicles are always our top priority.”

Just a month ago, the company ended Q1 of 2023 on a high note, registering 9,026 units for Toyota and 110 units for Lexus for March 2023, the highest ever sales registered for a first quarter.

Total sales for the month of March 2023 stood at 9,136 units (Toyota + Lexus), compared to 9,297 units (Toyota + Lexus) recorded in February 2023. Total year-to-date sales registered for March 2023 stood at 25,219 units compared to 22,447 units for year-to-date sales registered in March 2022, a positive increase of 12% from the
previous year.

The month of March also saw the unveiling of the All-New Toyota Vios, which boasts improved performance, quicker acceleration, and new technology, making it an even more compelling choice for customers looking for a reliable, efficient, and affordable car.

In other Toyota news, UMW Toyota Motor held a tree planting event (UMW Green Shoots Initiative ), hosted by the Malaysian Nature Society at Tanjung Tuan, Melaka in conjunction with the Raptor Watch 2023 event.

This initiative supports the National 100 Million Trees Planting Campaign and matches the three objectives of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG). It is also aligned with Toyota Motor Corporation’s commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
