The Honda WR-V replaces the BR-V and competes with the Perodua Ativa
After much anticipation, Honda Malaysia today officially launched the all-new Honda WR-V compact SUV, which sits below the HR-V and the CR-V in Honda’s range of SUVs in Malaysia.
Having received more than 2,500 bookings in the past month itself, the WR-V takes on models like the Perodua Ativa which is suitable for small families and first-time SUV buyers.
As mentioned above, there will be four variants on sale with prices as mentioned below:
- Honda WR-V S – RM89,900
- Honda WR-V E – RM95,900
- Honda WR-V V – RM99,900
- Honda WR-V RS – RM107,900
All four variants are powered by the same powertrain package which comprises a 1.5-litre DOHC i-VTEC engine that is paired with a CVT-type gearbox, producing 121 PS at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm at 4,300 rpm. This powertrain is actually the same as what we get in the Honda City and also the City Hatchback.
Unlike the HR-V RS which is actually a hybrid, the WR-V here does not come in a hybrid variant, so the enhancements on the RS trim are only in terms of cosmetics and technology.
Measuring 4,060 mm in length, 1,780 mm in width, and 1,608 mm in height with a wheelbase length of 2,485 mm, the Honda WR-V offers 380-litres of boot space with the rear seats up. Once the 60:40 split-folding rear seats are folded, there is enough space for two mountain bikes to go in.
