The Tesla brand was officially launched in Malaysia today, with the Model Y being the first model to make its debut
After much anticipation, the Tesla brand was officially launched in Malaysia earlier today at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, where the event received a very overwhelming response from the press and the public.
In conjunction with the brand’s debut, the brand also launched its first model in Malaysia which is the Tesla Model Y SUV, which has been available for booking for the past week since the 14th of July 2023.
Available in three trims, the price of the Tesla Model Y in Malaysia is as mentioned below:
- Tesla Model Y (Rear-wheel drive) – RM199,000
- Tesla Model Y Long Range – RM246,000
- Tesla Model Y Performance – RM288,000
Expected to be delivered to owners in the beginning of 2024, the list of standard features on each variant is as listed below:
Tesla Model Y (RWD) comes with:
- Rear-Wheel Drive configuration
- 430km range
- 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of 6.9 seconds
- 8 years / 160,000 km warranty
- All-Black interior
- Premium Interior package
- 19-inch Gemini Wheels (20-inch Induction Wheels is available as an option for RM10,000)
- Five seats
- Basic Autopilot system
- Optional – Navigate on Autopilot, Enhanced Autopilot, Auto Lane Change, Autopark, Full Self-Driving Capability
Moving up the range, we have the Tesla Model Y Long Range which gets a few extra features on top of what we see above, like:

- 0 to 100 km/h time of 5.0-seconds
- 8 years / 192,000 km warranty
- Black or White interior colour
Last but not least, we have the range-topping Tesla Model Y Performance which gets:
- 514 km range
- 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 3.7 seconds
- Premium Interior package
- Performance Upgrade (250 km/h top speed, Performance Brakes, Lowered Suspension, Aluminium alloy pedals)

Expected to be delivered to owners in early 2024, the Tesla Model Y comes in five different colours, namely Pearl White Multi-Coat, Solid Black (+RM5,000), Midnight Silver Metallic (+RM5,000), Deep Blue Metallic (+RM5,000), and Red Multi-Coat (+RM10,000).
The brand’s first indoor Supercharger station with a total of eight Superchargers will be opened soon as well, just in time for owners to use them when needed. With the Tesla Supercharging technology (250 kW), the Model Y can be charged up to 120 km (range) in just 5 minutes.
