The locally-assembled GLC 300 even gets extra features like a panoramic roof and a hands-free powered tailgate
Five months after launching the all-new second generation Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 which was fully imported, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia today announced the introduction of the locally assembled version.
While the CBU version was priced at RM429,888 on the road without insurance, the CKD version that we’re looking at here is cheaper by RM51,000, priced at RM378,888. Despite the drop in price, the locally-assembled version here comes with a couple of extra features that were not offered in the CBU unit, namely a powered panoramic sunroof and also the hands-free powered tailgate. Other than that, everything is identical with the outgoing CBU version.
Kitted in the AMG Line exterior equipment package, notable features include 20-inch wheels, redesigned headlights, a new front grille, newly designed daytime running lights, Digital Light headlamps, as well as a new bumper design.
At the rear, the taillights are slimmer and the bumper comes with chromed trim that surrounds the twin exhaust pipes. Inside, the cabin has gone through a complete overhaul, similar to what you see in the new models like the C-Class and the E-Class.
Taking centre stage is an 11.9-inch touchscreen display that is angled towards the driver, complemented by rectangular air vents, a whole lot of ambient lighting and the latest version of Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) which supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, and navigation with augmented reality among other systems.
The list of safety features on the other hand includes cruise control, a 360-degree camera, Active Parking Assist with Parktronic, a blind spot monitor, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Pre-Safe, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and Active Brake Assist (autonomous emergency braking).
Last but not least, the all-new GLC 300’s powertrain package comprises a 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol that makes 258 PS and 400 Nm of torque, which is paired with a 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission, the 4Matic all-wheel drive system, and a new 48-volt mild hybrid system that replaces the outgoing integrated starter-generator (ISG).
Capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds with a top speed of 240 km/h, the GLC 300 4MATIC is available in eight colours, and a standard four-year factory warranty.
