Sime Darby Motors, the authorized distributor of BYD vehicles in Malaysia today announced the introduction of the 2024 BYD M6, the most affordable electric MPV in the market at the moment.
The all-electric seven-seater MPV is available in two variants, with prices as mentioned below:
- BYD M6 Standard Range – RM109,800
- BYD M6 Extended Range – RM123,800
Powered by a 55.4 kWh battery, the BYD M6 Standard produces a maximum output of 120kW and 310 Nm of peak torque, with a maximum driving range of 420km. Capable of accelerating from standstill to 100km/h in 10.1 seconds, the BYD M6 Standard also comes with DC fast-charging capacity of 89kW.
Meanwhile, the more powerful BYD M6 Extended Range variant features a 71.8kWh battery that produces an output of 150kW and 310Nm of peak torque.
Thanks to the bigger battery, the M6 Extended’s range is rated at 530km, which is 110km more than the Standard Range variant. It is also quicker than the Standard version as it does the century sprint in just 8.6 seconds.
As for charging, the Extended Range variant of the BYD M6 features a DC charging rate of up to 115kW, which means that it’s battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 40 minutes.
Both variants, which are driven exclusively by the front wheels, are identical in terms of the exterior design and features, comprising full LED headlights and taillights, 17-inch wheels, as well as a powered tailgate.
Inside the cabin, highlights include a 12.8-inch rotating central display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, leather seats, a wireless charger, and multiple USB charging ports.
While luggage space is rated at 580-litre with the third row of seats up, the second and last row can be folded flat into the floor, translating into more space to store large objects.
Where safety is concerned, standard features include six airbags, ABS, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control, a 360-degree camera, rear radars, auto hold, and cruise control.
Fitted exclusively in the Extended Range variant are more driving assistance features such as Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), Front and Rear Collision Warning (FCW, RCW), Blind Spot Detection, and Lane Departure Assist (LDA).
Offered in four colours, the BYD M6 is offered with an extensive warranty package that includes six years or 150,000km for the vehicle, eight years or 160,000km for the battery, and eight years or 150,000km for the drive unit.
Last but not least, the first 300 customers who book the BYD M6 will receive a complimentary Home Charger.
