Evolvelectric Motors Sdn Bhd (Evolvelectric Motors) has officially unveiled the JAC T9 double-cab series in Malaysia, offering both a highly efficient diesel-powered Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) variant and a state-of-the-art Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) version.
The T9 combines eye-catching design, a premium interior, advanced technology, and remarkable performance, setting a new standard in the pickup truck segment.
The T9 2.0L diesel variant stands out as the only pickup truck in Malaysia to earn a 5-star rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) under the latest testing criteria. On the other hand, the T9 BEV is a pioneering 4X4 electric pickup truck, making its mark as Malaysia’s first.
Mr. Lau Yit Mun, Chief Executive Officer of Evolvelectric Motors, emphasized that the T9’s adaptability and wide appeal make it a top choice for Malaysian drivers.
“The JAC T9 is crafted for all Malaysians, whether for business, family use, or daily driving. Its versatile 4×4 configuration fits seamlessly into any lifestyle, providing reliability for everyday commutes, safety for family trips, and an elevated driving experience with its stylish design.
This is undoubtedly the most advanced 4×4 pickup ever created by JAC Motors, with over 55 years of expertise in manufacturing light commercial vehicles. Built on JAC’s third-generation international platform, the T9 ensures improved stability, comfort, and safety,” said Mr. Lau.
He also highlighted JAC’s outstanding performance, evident in its position as China’s top exporter of pickup trucks in 2024.
“The T9 comes equipped with a range of premium features, such as 64-colour ambient lighting that syncs with music rhythms, ensuring a lively atmosphere in the cabin. Additional luxurious features include a versatile charging system with a 50W wireless charger, USB ports, Type-C and 220V multi-power socket, an armrest with a cooling air vent for beverages, a 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 360° HD camera, and intelligent electronic shifting with four driving modes: Eco, Normal, Sport, and Snow. The T9 also boasts a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System, making it easier to drive this large vehicle,” he added.
The T9 diesel model is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, generating 125kW and 410Nm of torque from 1,500rpm to 2,500rpm. It is paired with a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission that powers the rear wheels.
Meanwhile, the T9 BEV 4×4 is powered by an 88kWh LFP battery sourced from Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL), providing an estimated range of 340 kilometers based on WLTP standards. Its dual-motor electric setup produces a combined output of 220kW and 516Nm of torque, with a top speed of 140km/h.
Charging is quick, with DC fast charging at 88kW, enabling a 15% to 80% charge in just 45 minutes. Alternatively, the AC charging system takes around 8.5 hours to fully charge from 15% to 100%.
To celebrate the launch, Evolvelectric Motors is offering an introductory price for the T9 until the end of the year:
- T9 Diesel variant: RM119,888 (Peninsula Malaysia), on-the-road, excluding insurance.
- Includes an 8-year or unlimited mileage engine warranty for the first owner (whichever comes first), subject to service policy.
- 5 years or unlimited mileage warranty for the vehicle.
- T9 BEV variant: RM199,888 (Peninsula Malaysia), on-the-road, excluding insurance.
- Comes with a 6-year or 200,000 km warranty for the battery, whichever comes first.
