Volvo Car Malaysia has officially introduced the EX90, the brand’s first fully electric seven-seater SUV. Now available in Malaysia in the sole Ultra Twin variant, it has the brand’s most advanced powertrain and trim specifications.
A New Flagship in Volvo’s Electric Line-Up
The EX90 serves as the flagship SUV for Volvo, introducing several firsts for the brand. It is the first Volvo model equipped with lidar, the first to run entirely on software-driven architecture, and the first built with hardware ready to support future autonomous driving capabilities.
With its signature Scandinavian design philosophy, the EX90 is crafted as a refined, practical, and fully electric family SUV. A sleek silhouette featuring a rounded front, flush-fitting glazing and door handles contributes to an aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.29, while maintaining a strong road presence.
Performance and Range
Despite the “Ultra Twin” label for the Malaysian market, the vehicle boasts Performance all-wheel drive software, delivering up to 517 hp (380 kW) and 910 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds.
Powered by a 111 kWh lithium-ion NMC battery (107 kWh usable), the EX90 supports rapid charging from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes, and offers an estimated range of 623 km under the WLTP cycle.

Locally, the EX90 Ultra variant includes features such as:

Customers can choose from Onyx Black, Crystal White, Vapour Grey, and the all-new Sand Dune exterior shades, with interior options including Charcoal or Cardamom finishes paired with Nordico upholstery and FSC™-certified Birch wood trim.
Cutting-Edge Safety Technology
Engineered to be Volvo’s safest car to date, the EX90 incorporates the brand’s comprehensive Safe Space Technology — a combination of advanced passive and active safety systems driven by powerful onboard computing.
The car constantly monitors its environment in real-time with a 360-degree awareness system, offering assistance with braking, steering, lane keeping, and collision prevention.

The EX90 also debuts an Occupant Sensing System, which scans the cabin and trunk after the vehicle is locked to ensure no child or pet is left behind, triggering alerts and activating climate control if movement is detected.
Advanced Driver Assistance and Comfort
The enhanced Pilot Assist system offers smart lane positioning and adaptive cruise control. It can now even assist with lane changes when the indicator is activated. Using navigation data, the car adjusts speed when approaching curves and, in future updates, will help make overtaking decisions.
The Scandinavian-inspired interior uses sustainable and renewable materials, evoking the calm of a living room. Front-row seats offer massage functionality, and a convertible booster seat is available in the second row. Ventilated seats are included in both front and second-row outer positions.
Volvo also claims this is their quietest cabin yet, thanks to improved insulation and double-laminated windows, creating the perfect environment for the premium Bowers & Wilkins sound system with 25 speakers and immersive Dolby Atmos technology.
Smart Suspension, One-Pedal Drive & Air Quality
The air suspension system enhances ride comfort by continuously adjusting based on road and driver input. It can lower by 20 mm at high speeds for better aerodynamics or raise by 40 mm in off-road conditions.
The one-pedal drive system offers an efficient and smooth experience with an “Auto” mode that adjusts regenerative braking based on driving conditions.
Volvo’s industry-leading Interior Air Quality System purifies the cabin by removing up to 95% of PM 2.5 particles, allergens, and even airborne viruses. The CleanZone app allows real-time air quality monitoring and targeted purification.
Natural Lighting & Smart Features
The EX90 introduces SunLike LED lighting, mimicking natural daylight to reduce eye strain and support healthy circadian rhythms. These flicker-free LEDs are integrated into all functional interior lighting elements.
Additional features include:
- Digital phone key support for automatic unlocking and profile loading
- High-Definition Pixel headlights with 1.3 million pixels per unit that dynamically adjust to avoid dazzling other drivers

Initial units of the Volvo EX90 will be fully imported (CBU), priced at RM442,888 in Peninsular Malaysia and RM442,648 in Sabah and Sarawak.
