Porsche Malaysia Marks 15 Years with Launch of New 911 Carrera

In conjunction with 15th anniversary, Porsche Malaysia recently unveiled the newest generation of the 911 series with the introduction of the 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera 4 GTS – priced from RM1,430,000 and RM1,890,000 respectively.

The main highlight here is that the Carrera 4 GTS is now powered by the newly introduced T-Hybrid drive system, which features a compact electric motor between the compressor and turbine wheel, enabling instant turbo boost and minimizing turbo lag. Notably, this motor also acts as a generator, recovering up to 11 kW of energy from the exhaust flow.

Paired with the hybrid system is a newly designed 3.6-litre boxer engine, paired with a permanent magnet synchronous motor embedded in an upgraded 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (PDK). This motor enhances performance even at idle, offering an additional 150 Nm of torque and a power boost of up to 40 kW. Supporting these components is a compact high-voltage battery with a 1.9 kWh capacity, cleverly sized to match a traditional 12-volt battery yet operating at 400 volts.

The hybrid system delivers a combined output of 398 kW (541 PS) and 610 Nm of torque—an improvement of 45 kW over its predecessor. Thanks to the efficient packaging and lightweight components, the hybrid system only adds 50 kg to the car’s weight, making it significantly lighter than most plug-in hybrid alternatives. Meanwhile, the 911 Carrera retains its classic 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged boxer engine, now refined for greater efficiency and output. Adopting the intercooler setup from the Turbo series, the Carrera benefits from better cooling and a bump in performance to 290 kW (394 PS) and 450 Nm of torque.

This allows the Carrera Coupé to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds, or 3.9 seconds with the Sport Chrono package, reaching a top speed of 294 km/h.

The 911 Carrera 4 GTS also boasts upgraded suspension, now including standard rear-axle steering for better high-speed stability and improved turning radius. The vehicle features Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and sits 10 mm lower, enhancing its GTS-specific driving dynamics. The new models are available with a variety of wheel designs, including an option for carbon-blade wheels to reduce aerodynamic drag.

On the exterior, both models come with redesigned bumpers and integrated matrix LED headlights improve airflow and illumination. Adaptive front diffusers and active air flaps help balance cooling and aerodynamic efficiency, adapting dynamically to driving conditions.

Optional HD matrix LED headlights with over 32,000 light points offer advanced functions, such as lane highlighting and high beam with pinpoint accuracy. At the rear, a bold light strip and updated bumper design accentuate the car’s stance, while GTS-specific exhaust systems ensure a sporty finish.

Inside, the cabin features Porsche’s updated Driver Experience concept, emphasizing intuitive controls and a driver-centric layout. A fully digital 12.6-inch curved display replaces traditional dials, offering customizable views including a retro-inspired classic mode.

Connectivity also takes a leap forward with native Apple CarPlay® integration, wireless smartphone charging, and even video streaming capabilities when parked.

The 911 Carrera is offered as a rear-wheel-drive coupé, while the Carrera 4 GTS comes standard with all-wheel drive. Both models include the renowned Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission as standard equipment.
