Naza Kia Malaysia launched the updated Kia Grand Carnival just a couple of days ago, with a few significant changes.
The big news is that the new Grand Carnival will only be offered in one variant, which is the 11-seater that is powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine and an 8-speed automatic gearbox, producing 200PS and 440 Nm of torque. The previous-gen’s KX and SX eight-seater variants have been dropped.
On the exterior, key features include the new roof racks, new one-touch power windows with anti-pinch features, LED DRLs, 18-inch wheels, as well as powered sliding doors on both sides.
Inside, the party piece is Kia’s Multiflex seats which offer a great level of flexibility for occupants, with 6, 7, 8, or 11 seat configurations. While the second and third rows seats offer 40:20:40 split folding, the fourth-row seats can be folded flat into the floor. When all the seats are folded, owners are entitled to a maximum of 2,335 litres of luggage space.
While new features in the new Grand Carnival include a 7.0-inch touchscreen HMI (human-machine interface) with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice recognition, and an additional USB charging port on its fourth row, the list of standard features include a reverse camera, three-zone air conditioning, sunshades in the second and third rows, smart key entry, push start ignition, a leather steering wheel, and four USB charging ports among others. As far as safety is concerned, there are 6 airbags, ESC, and Hill-Start Assist.
Priced at RM179,888 on-the-road without insurance, the new Kia Grand Carnival comes with five years manufacturer’s warranty. Colour options available include Snow White Pearl, Silky Silver, Aurora Black Pearl and Panthera Metal, which is like the most badass name for paint, ever.
