BMW Motorrad Malaysia has announced the introduction of the new S1000 RR.
But wait, didn’t they just launch this bike at the 2019 Malaysian MotoGP in Sepang?
The answer is both yes and no. Yes, the bike that was launched last year was the S1000 RR, but it came with the M Package, and an asking price of RM138,500.
This time, it’s the version without the M Package. So, in case you’re wondering what is in the M Package for the extra cash:
- Motorsport paint finish
- M carbon fibre wheels
- M light weight battery
- M Chassis Kit with rear ride height adjustment and swingarm pivot
- M sport seat
- Pro Mode
So, if you’re not going to race your bike, and want something a little less race-y and more affordable, the base S1000RR which was just launched is here to save the day for RM116,500.
Featuring the Flex Frame, the new S1000RR has a much leaner fuel tank and seating area trim sections compared to the previous gen model, translating into improved support and knee grip.
A rear seat cover is also offered as standard with the rider’s seat. The front view of the new Superbike forms a narrow and streamlined silhouette, as the familiar upside-down fork offers excellent steering precision. In combination with a low-level front section, this gives the new Superbike a light, athletic appearance.
Creating a sporty silhouette is the vehicle body that sits entirely between the wheels with short overhangs. The aluminium fuel tank and cast aluminium wheels are available as standard.
The headlight features LED technology and the illuminated style element as standard, combining both low and high beams in one compact element. The LED taillight arrives with a combined dynamic brake light and comfort turn indicator in one unit. The New BMW S 1000 RR will be available in two striking colours: Racing Red and Hockenheim Silver Metallic.
Power comes courtesy of a newly developed 4-cylinder in-line cross engine with a capacity of 999 cc, and an increased maximum output of 207 hp and 113 Nm of maximum torque, enabling a top speed of well above 200 km/h. Some say that it can even clock 299 km/h.
The new chain-driven Superbike also arrives with the BMW ShiftCam Technology which varies the valve timings and valve strokes on the intake side.
There are four riding modes as standard – Rain, Road, Dynamic and Dynamic Pro. These riding modes also control functions such as the Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and ABS Pro for increased safety when braking or in banking position, while the BMW Motorrad Integral ABS system provides an even higher degree of performance.
Hill Start Control offers support when starting on steep inclines. Ultra-fast shifting up and down without the clutch is enabled by HP Shift Assistant Pro. The adjustable steering stabiliser also equips the new Superbike along with the electronic immobiliser.
The instrument panel of the new Superbike features a 6.5-inch TFT screen that provides excellent readability – even in difficult light conditions. It is linked to the Multi Controller on the left-hand handlebar panel and can be operated quickly, safely and conveniently from there. Individually tailored screen displays also offer different uses to the rider.
Additionally, the New BMW S 1000 RR is equipped with Connectivity which allows swift pairing of the Superbike to the rider’s mobile phones for convenient music playback and phone calls. When used in conjunction with the BMW Connected app, which is exclusive to selected countries worldwide, the rider can easily access the new Superbike’s status and statistics.
Other highlights of the new BMW S 1000 RR include the drop sensor as standard, as well as the adjustable clutch lever and adjustable handbrake lever. A detachable license plate holder is also available for owners of the new Superbike.
With the Financing Plan from BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia, ownership of the New BMW S 1000 RR variant starts from RM1,420.00 per month. This is based on estimates of 80% loan on a 4-year tenure.
Owners can also enjoy additional benefits with the All-New Industry-Leading Premium Engine Oil Inclusive, Service Inclusive and Warranty Extension Programmes by BMW Motorrad Malaysia.
Last but not least, the new BMW S1000RR comes with a 3-Year Warranty and 3-Year Roadside Assistance Programme.
