The All-New 2nd generation Honda BR-V finally made its world debut in Indonesia yesterday, featuring a fresh design, and a whole lot of new features and technology.
The seven-seater SUV, which was initially unveiled as the N7X concept, comes fully loaded with Honda SENSING, Honda LaneWatch, Remote Engine Start, Walk-Away Auto Lock, and also Smart Entry System just to name a few – all of which are available for the first time in the BR-V.
Design wise, the BR-V looks matured and more elegant now, with key features like full LED headlights, DRL which looks like it’s part of the front grille, a Rear Combi Lamp, as well as 17-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, we have a completely new cabin which looks more premium than the outgoing model with leather upholstery, an armrest in the second and third rows, as well as more power outlets than before.
According to Honda, the all-new BR-V is more practical now with added storage space for all occupants, as the compartments are larger. Plus, there are eight cup holders in total. Meanwhile, the third row of seats can be folded 50:50.
Taking centre-stage is a 7-inch touch screen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, and the usual MP3, USB, Bluetooth compatibility.
There is also a 4.2” TFT display on the instrument panel displaying necessary information revolving around the driver assistance and safety features like Honda Sensing.
Powering the All New Honda BR-V is an improved 1.5L DOHC i-VTEC engine which kicks out 121 PS and 145 Nm of torque. Paired to the engine is a new CVT transmission.
Safety wise, there are a few funky features that were previously available only in higher end models like the Accord and Odyssey like Lead Car Departure Notification System (LCDN), Collision Mitigation Brake System (CMBS), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and Auto-High Beam.
That being said, the all-new Honda BR-V will be sold in four variants in Indonesia as listed below:
- All New Honda BR-V S M/T
- All New Honda BR-V E CVT & M/T
- All New Honda BR-V Prestige CVT
- All New Honda BR-V Prestige CVT with Honda SENSING
As for Malaysia, no announcement has been made revolving around the All-New BR-V. While it is inevitable that it will be launched here, whether it will arrive this year or 2022 is yet to be disclosed by Honda Malaysia. So, watch this space for more updates on the Malaysian-spec Honda BR-V.
