Looks like the All-New Land Rover Defender will be making its Malaysian debut very soon, as a few camouflaged units of the new model were spotted being tested around the Klang Valley today.
Only last week, Land Rover Malaysia updated their official website with details of the All-New Defender, hinting at an imminent launch.
While we thought that things would only be happening after the lockdown, today’s spyshots indicate that the Malaysian launch could be happening sooner than we thought.
Defender 90 and 110
From what we can see, the camouflaged Defenders have four doors, meaning that this is the Defender 110 variant. There will also be a two-door short wheelbase Defender 90 as indicated on the official website.
According to the official website, both the Defender 90 and Defender 110 will be available in five versions – base Defender, S, SE, HSE, X, with two powertrain options (P300 and P300 MHEV).
While the Defender P300 will be powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 300 PS and 400 Nm, the P400 MHEV as the name suggests, will be powered by a mild hybrid system comprising a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder turbo engine and a 48-volt electric motor which collectively produce 400 PS and 500 Nm of torque.
Both engines will be paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission by ZF, which is complemented by a two-speed transfer case sending drive to all four wheels.
Four accessory packs
Also part of the list are things like Land Rover’s pioneering Terrain Response technology which adds a new Wade mode, and the Configurable Terrain Response which allows the driver to tailor set-up more precisely.
The Defender will also be available in four distinct Accessory Packs (Explorer, Adventure, Country and Urban) and with 170 individual accessories, depending on what the customer wants.
With a maximum payload of up to 900kg, static roof load of up to 300kg, towing capacity of 3,720kg and wading depth of up to 900mm combine to make new Defender the ultimate 4×4 for overland adventures.
That being said, more confirmed details will be announced officially by Land Rover Malaysia soon, so watch this space for more details on the All-New Land Rover Defender’s Malaysian debut.
