Chery Corporate Malaysia has contributed RM50,000 to the Putra Heights Mosque to support its efforts in operating a temporary evacuation centre following the recent gas explosion in Putra Heights, Selangor.
The mosque has been offering shelter to approximately 80 families affected by the incident, but is also facing increasing utility expenses as it continues to provide aid. Chery hopes that this donation will help ease the mosque’s financial strain as it continues to assist displaced families during this difficult period.
The ceremonial cheque was presented to the mosque’s manager, Abdul Hadi Hidzan, by Chery Corporate Malaysia Vice President Cheng Nam Weng (second from right in the front row) and Executive Vice President Leo Chen (first from right in the front row). Also attending the ceremony were Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Minister of Digital YB Gobind Singh Deo, and Selangor State Exco for Investment, Trade, and Mobility YB Ng Sze Han.

Chery’s management team handed over the donation during the event held at the mosque. In addition, Chery delivered the first batch of 25 cars as part of a one-month temporary vehicle loan program, which was announced on April 2. The remaining vehicles will be provided in the coming week.
The vehicle loan program is designed to support the families impacted by the gas explosion, offering them temporary transportation to help them rebuild their lives. This assistance will enable them to access essential services such as commuting, attending medical appointments, and ensuring their children continue to attend school.
This initiative was coordinated with the offices of Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, YB Ng Sze Han, and local authorities, all of whom are overseeing the ongoing relief efforts. Additionally, Chery provided RM100 in fuel assistance to each recipient of the loaned vehicles as part of its corporate social responsibility.
