Chery Malaysia recently announced the arrival of the highly anticipated Chery OMODA E5 at Chery showrooms nationwide, starting last weekend (24 Feb).
Customers and fans of Chery were invited to get a first glance at this cutting-edge pure electric vehicle as well as to place a booking for it before the OMODA E5’s official launch in March.
Estimated at RM160,000, the Chery OMODA E5 presents an appealing choice for Malaysians eager to embrace electric mobility and own their first electric vehicle.
Key Highlights of the Chery OMODA E5:
- Showcases an advanced electric drivetrain, delivering an impressive 201hp and 340Nm of torque, while boasting a remarkable Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle
Test Procedure (WLTP) 430km range. - Features an Advanced Driver Assistance System 2.5 (ADAS 2.5) which integrates advanced sensors, artificial intelligence, and connectivity features, redefining the
driving experience and establishing a new standard for advanced driver assistance systems in the electric vehicle market. - Powered by a 61 kWh high-capacity lithium iron phosphate blade battery ensuring long-range and swift charging.
- The AC charging rate is 9.9kW, while DC charging operates at 80kW. Fast DC charging can replenish the battery from 30% to 80% in just 30 minutes.
Fitted with a 61kWh battery, the Omoda E5 EV produces 150kW (221hp) and 340 Nm of torque with a consumption rate of 15 kW/100km, and travels up to 450km with a fully-charged battery. In terms of performance, it goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds while hitting a top speed of 170km/h.
The intelligent cockpit, a significant innovation, utilises Qualcomm chip for seamless humanvehicle interaction, complemented by a 24.6-inch curved 2K HD dual-screen for an immersive visual experience.
The Chery OMODA E5 has also excelled in the Water Wading Test and Bottom Scrapping Test conducted, proving that the electric vehicle is capable of handling various terrains, ensuring a reliable and safe driving experience.
Driven by the front wheels, the Omoda E5 will be fitted with McPherson independent suspensions in front and double link independent suspension at the rear. Also part of the package will be ventilated brake discs both in front and at the rear, as well as an Electric Power Steering (EPS) system.
From what we can see on the exterior, there are a few key differences between the ICE Omoda 5 and the Omoda E5 here, such as the front fascia of the car. While the former has the funky front grille, the EV comes with a sleeker, simpler face. The bumper and wheel designs are also different due to the need for the EV to be more aerodynamic.
