Denza D9 luxury MPV is now in Malaysia from RM259,000

The Denza D9, a premium electric MPV from BYD‘s luxury sub-brand, was officially launched in Malaysia recently.

Here to rival models like the Toyota Alphard, Vellfire, and the Zeekr 009, the Denza D9 will be available in two variants:

  • D9 Advance FWDRM259,000
  • D9 Premium AWD – RM309,000

The base AWD model features a front-mounted single electric motor delivering 313 PS and 360 Nm of torque, achieving 0-100 km/h in 9.5 seconds. It houses a 103 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, supporting DC fast charging up to 166 kW, and offers a WLTP range of up to 520 km.

Meanwhile, the Premium AWD variant is powered by dual electric motors delivering a combined output of 270 kW (369 hp) and 479 Nm of torque. It achieves 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds with a WLTP range of around 480 km.

Both variants also share a 103.36 kWh BYD Blade LFP battery, supporting 11 kW AC charging and up to 166 kW DC fast charging.

In terms of dimensions, the Denza D9 measures 5,250 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, 1,920 mm in height, with a 3,110 mm wheelbase.

On the exterior, highlights include the distinctive π (Pi) Motion front grille, arrow-shaped taillights, and 18-inch alloy wheels. While both variants look somewhat identical, the Premium AWD variant gets additional LED DRLs and comes fitted with Michelin tyres (versus the Advanced FWD’s Continental rubbers).

Inside, the D9 offers a luxurious experience with tri-zone automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, adaptive cruise control, and a comprehensive suite of safety features, including ABS, EBD, traction control, multiple airbags, and advanced driver assistance systems.

While the D9 Advanced FWD variantfeatures premium leather seats and a fabric ceiling, the Premium AWD variant has Nappa leather upholstery and Suede headlining, enhancing the interior’s upscale feel.

Additionally, the Premium (AWD) variant which can be identified by an “AWD” badge on the bottom right of the tailgate, also gets a Head-Up Display (HUD).

Meanwhile, standard features across the board include a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, three wireless chargers, a 7-litre fridge, two foldable desks for the second-row seats, digital control panels for the second-row occupants to adjust the air cond and the infotainment system, as well as a 410-litre boot that can be expanded to 2,310 litres with the third-row seats folded.
