Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has introduced a new Executive variant for its seventh-generation Hyundai Elantra, which is offered at the more accessible price of RM139,888 (Peninsula Malaysia, excluding insurance).
With two variants now available, i.e the Executive and Premium, HSDM aims to capture a bigger market share of the C-segment passenger car market which is currently being dominated by the Honda Civic.
RM19,000 cheaper than Elantra Premium
The Executive variant, which is priced RM19,000 lower than the Premium variant, enjoys most of the features of the Premium variant, which also include the following SmartSense features:
- Blind Spot-Collision Warning
- Rear Cross Traffic – Collision Warning
- Safe Exit Warning
- Rear Occupant Alert
Apart from that, this new entry level variant comes with Black Fabric Seat, Manual Seat Adjustment, 4.2-inch TFT LCD Cluster, and a Day & Night Rear View Mirror.
Powertrain
The Elantra is built on a new vehicle platform as well as an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) that is mated with a Smartstream G1.6 petrol engine. It is capable of producing 123PS at 6,300rpm and a peak torque of 154Nm at 4,500rpm. With four drive modes to choose from, i.e Smart, Comfort, Eco and Sport, the Elantra offers an exhilarating drive.
Designed based on Hyundai’s Sensuous Sportiness design concept, it carries an intricate design of geometric crystals cut and divided body surfaces which, coupled with the clever usage of lined patterns, resulting in colourful ‘Parametric Dynamics’.
Though the car now has a sleeker roofline compared to its predecessor, its headroom is not compromised. The Elantra boasts 1030mm of front headroom and 947mm of rear headroom.
Space
The longer wheelbase also provides a best-in-class 964mm of rear legroom while the wider track width means improved shoulder room in the front and rear. With over 474 litres of boot space and 60/40 split folding rear seats, this also makes it convenient to transport big bulky items.
The Elantra also delivers outstanding comfort, functionality and practicality. The “immersive cocoon” interior envelops the driver in a technologically-advanced and sophisticated cabin that is akin to entering an airplane cockpit.
Safety
Apart from being equipped with 6 airbags, the Elantra has a host of other standard safety features as well, such as the Electronic Stability Control, Antilock Braking System, Downhill Brake Control, Hill-start Assist Control, Brake Assist System, Traction Control System, Vehicle Stability Management and Immobiliser.
The Elantra comes with a five-year or 300,000km (whichever comes first) warranty. It is available for viewing at all Hyundai showrooms nationwide.
