Toyota has not said anything about the Yaris Cross coming here just yet, but there are possibilities
Toyota has officially unveiled the All-New Toyota Yaris Cross model in Indonesia yesterday, completing the brand’s Hybrid EV line-up in the country.
Looking like a mini RAV4, the Yaris Cross features a sloping roof design with widened fenders, giving the SUV a sporty and muscular look. In addition, the design of the LED rear combination lights emphasizes the width of the Yaris Cross while the rear bumper expresses the confidence and toughness of an adventure vehicle.
Inside the cabin, the all-new Yaris Cross comes with a wide soft dashboard panel that gives a luxurious impression, creating a design in harmony with the door trim which gives a spacious impression. This spacious impression is also further strengthened by the presence of a Panoramic Glass Roof with a Power Sunshade.
The driving position is also the highest in its class to produce the widest visibility in all directions. The driver-oriented cockpit focuses on a customizable 7-inch digital TFT instrument panel, combined with a black piano finish and soft fabrics and satin-finish ornaments to create a high-quality, sophisticated feel.
As for the upholstery, owners get either synthetic leather or fabric seats depending on the variant, with a generous dose of contrasting blue stitching that is sporty and pleasant to the eye.
The All-New Yaris Cross has dimensions of 4,310 mm in length, 1,770 mm in width, 1,615 mm in height, and 2,620 mm in wheelbase. Coupled with a narrow front-rear overhang with an approach angle of 19º and a departure angle of 28º, this light off-roader is capable of safely traveling through various road conditions.
Featuring the largest trunk in its class, the all-new Yaris Cross is fitted with a Power Back Door with Kick Sensor which promises to make it easier for drivers to access their belongings.
That being said, there are two powertrain options for the Toyota yaris Cross. The first is the same 1.5-litre petrol engine as the latest Vios making 106 PS and 138 Nm of torque, which is paired with either a CVT or a five-speed manual gearbox.
Meanwhile, the other option is a hybrid system that comprises a 1.5-litre petrol engine and an electric motor that collectively produce 112 PS and 141 Nm of torque.
Toyota also mentioned that the placement of the hybrid battery under the rear passenger has not compromised the luggage capacity or the passenger cabin space. It is said that the decision to position the battery below deck has also contributed towards improving the car’s handling by lowering the centre of gravity.
Last but not least, the all-new Yaris Cross receives various advance safety features. This Urban SUV is equipped with Electric Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Brake Hold, 6-airbags, ABS+EBD+BA brakes, Parking Sensors, Emergency Stop Signal, Hill Start Assist (HSA), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), and Blind Spot Monitor (BSM). The Panoramic View Monitor feature is also present to provide comprehensive visibility assistance when driving.
