Kota Bahru-based Mekar Angkut Sdn Bhd has taken delivery of 15 units of the new Euro V-powered MAN TGS prime movers as it expands its transport business.
The company’s new MAN Truck fleet comprises 10 units of the MAN TGS 4×2 variant used as car carriers and five units of 6×2 variant used as tankers for carrying palm oil.
At a simple handover ceremony held at MAN Malaysia’s new integrated headquarters at Shah Alam, Mekar Angkut Executive Chairman Che Ibrahim bin Che Ismail explained his reasons for choosing the new MAN TGS.
“We have had good experience with the performance and reliability of MAN Buses in our express bus business, Ekspres Mutiara. Initially, there were some reservations about the aftersales support since we are based at Kota Bahru.”
“However, after personally seeing their current set-up and investment at Shah Alam and receiving the firm commitment from its management, I am convinced and confident that we have made the right choice,” said Che Ibrahim, popularly known as Pak Nik.
On a separate note, MAN Trucks and Bus Malaysia recently showcased two units of its MAN TGS Trucks with the highest ADR Class EX/II and EX/III (with certification) specifications at a recent gathering for transporters involved in the oil and gas industry, body builders, partners and government agencies.
ADR or “Accord Dangereux Routier” is French for “European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road” and the standard that governs the transportation of dangerous goods by road.
Unlike the majority of ADR trucks in the Malaysian market that are mostly only compliant up to FL Class (equipped to carry flamable liquids), MAN Malaysia has equipped its proven and market-leading Euro V-powered MAN TGS ADR Truck variant with Class EX/II and EX/III specifications as standard which means that the vehicles are certified fit to transport even explosive materials or objects with explosive substances.
