MG4
In terms of the exterior and interior design, all four variants of the MG4 are identical, with the only differences being the output as well as the range. That being said, the entry-level MG4 Standard (350km range) produces 170 PS and 250 Nm of torque, goes from to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds.
Next, the MG4 Luxury which covers up to 435 km makes 203 PS and does the century sprint in 7.7 seconds. And then, there is the MG4 Extended Range which goes up to 520 km on a single charge, producing 245 PS and 350 Nm, with a 0 to 100 acceleration time of 6.1 seconds.
Last but not least, we have the MG4 XPower which comes with dual motors, producing 435 PS and 600 Nm, enabling it to accelerate to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. As quick as it is, the range is shorter than the Lux’s at 385 km.
In terms of charging, the MG4 Standard supports up to 117 kW of DC fast charging, taking 37 minutes to charge from 10 to 80%. The other variants can accept up to 135 kW, with charging times of 26 minutes for the Lux and XPower and 38 minutes for the Lux Extended.
As for AC charging, a 7 kW wallbox will provide a full charge in eight hours for the Standard, 8.5 hours for the Lux and XPower and ten hours for the Lux Extended. The Lux, Lux Extended and XPower models come with an 11 kW onboard charger, slashing the full charge times to 5.1 hours for the Lux and XPower and 6.2 hours for the Lux Extended.
With a wheelbase of 2,705mm, length of 4,287 mm, a width of 1,836 mm and just 1,504 mm in height, the five-door hatchback is perfectly suited to its competitive environment.
The low height of the car is made possible by its particularly flat battery. The MG4 uses the flattest battery developed to-date; with a height of just 110 mm, it’s even the thinnest battery in its class.
The MG4 offers a comfortable and spacious cabin with enough space for a family of five, while maintaining sleek and sporty proportions. The luggage compartment capacity is between 363 and 1,177 litres by volume.
In addition, its balanced 50:50 weight distribution allows better handling, more direct steering movements and fast cornering. In combination with rear-wheel drive, the new MG4 ensures optimum driving pleasure.
The MG4 also uses several advanced driver assistance and safety systems. In addition to Front Collision Warning (FCW) and Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) (with Pedestrian and Bicycle Detection), all versions also offer Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Traffic Jam Assistance (TJA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assistance (LKA) and Intelligent High Beam Assist as standard, grouped under the name MG Pilot.
While the MG4 Lux, Extended Range and XPOWER, MG Pilot also boasts Blind Spot Detection (BSD) and Lane Change Assist (LCA). In addition, it warns for crossing traffic behind the vehicle thanks to Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) and for oncoming traffic when opening the doors due to Door Opening Warning (DOW). A 360-degree camera shows the driver the environment all around the MG4 on the display.
That being said, the all-electric MG4 comes with 7 years or 150,000km mileage (whichever comes first) warranty on vehicle and 8 years or 180,000km (whichever comes first) warranty on battery.
