Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) is now accepting pre-bookings for the all-new Golf R-Line, with the estimated price range between RM155,000 to RM165,000. To put things into perspective, the outgoing Mk7.5 Golf R-Line was sold for RM166,900.
Powering the Mk8 Volkswagen Golf R-Line which is being assembled locally in Pekan, Pahang, is an updated version of the existing 1.4-litre TSI engine that produces 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque, paired to a new Aisin eight-speed torque converter automatic gearbox which replaces the DSG dual-clutch gearbox.
As the all-new Golf pays homage to its heritage, it emerges as the most progressive generation yet with improved performance, enhanced digitalisation, and more intuitive controls. The changes are most noticeable in its clean and contemporary look.
On the exterior, a leaner front grille, narrow LED headlights, and a sporty looking bumper lend an assured stance to the new model. And then we have the LED light bar that runs across the front fascia, 17-inch wheels, as well as sporty “quad” exhaust tips.
Inside, the cabin has been completely redesigned, featuring a new-generation 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit, a multifunction steering wheel with haptic-touch control, as well as an advanced 10-inch Discover Media infotainment system with navigation.
Another new feature is the compact and innovative new-generation gear selector which is fitted for the first time in Malaysia to carry.
To complement its sporty exterior, the Golf R-Line comes with front sport seats fitted in Sardegna fabric and Art Velours side bolsters for deluxe comfort, complete with the R-line logo embossed on the headrest.
The R-Line is available in five colours, including two new ones – the matte Moonstone Grey and metallic Kings Red. Other colours are Atlantic Blue in metallic finishing, as well as Deep Black and Oryx White with pearl effect.
VPCM also announced that it is offering supports with aftersales care through three years free maintenance, five years unlimited mileage warranty, and five years roadside assistance.
