If the regular BMW S1000 RR is not wild enough, you can opt for the S1000 RR with M Package

Just shortly after welcoming the new R1250RS and R1250R sports tourers, BMW Motorrad Malaysia has unveiled the new BMW S1000 RR, which introduces an array of enhancements.

Similar to its predecessor, the chassis of the New BMW S1000 RR is welded in an aluminium bridge frame which integrates the engine in a 32-degree incline forward. With the aim of optimising flexibility laterally, the main frame of the New BMW S1000 RR has been enhanced with several openings in the side areas.

Besides that, the steering head angle has been flattened out by 0.5° and the offset of the triple clamps reduced by 3 mm. This new chassis geometry is accompanied not only by even better riding precision, but also by increased accuracy and clearer feedback from the front wheel. Additionally, the front and rear sections, as well as the winglet have also been redesigned to increase the aerodynamic performance and sportiness of the motorbike.

At the heart of the new BMW S1000 RR is a four-cylinder in-line engine that has been refined further based on its predecessor. With its peak power now at 210 hp at 13,750 rpm, it marks a 3 hp increase compared to the previous iteration, while the maximum torque of 113 Nm is generated at 11,000 rpm. Accompanying the greater power output is a significantly broader and more fulsome usable engine speed range, with a maximum engine speed of 14,600 rpm.

Alongside the updated performance are innovations that ensure greater control for riders. These include the new Slide Control function in the Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), which assists the rider when accelerating out of a bend.

It comes with two available preset drift angles for the traction control system, both utilising an advanced steering angle sensor to reduce slip and stabilise the motorcycle during leaning, as soon as the preset steering angle is achieved.

Another notable innovation is the new Brake Slide Assist, part of the standard ABS Pro. Based also on steering sensor technology, this new function allows the rider to set at a pre-determine drift angle, or so-called braking drifts, while sliding into corners at a maintained speed. Additionally, the new BMW S1000 RR is equipped with four riding modes – “Rain”, “Road”, “Dynamic” and “Race”.

Also included as standard is the Dynamic Package, inclusive of Riding Mode Pro, HSC Pro, Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), Dynamic Damping Control (DDC), heated grips and cruise control. The New BMW S1000 RR arrives in two distinct colourways – Style Passion in Racing Red as well as the racing-oriented M Package Lightwhite.

That being said, the retail pricing (on the road, with BMW Motorrad Malaysia’s All-New 3-Year Warranty and 3-Year Roadside Assistance Programmes, without insurance) for the model is RM129,500 for the S1000 RR Style Passion and RM149,500 for the S1000 RR M Package.
