After months of anticipation, Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia today finally launched the all-new Land Rover Defender 110, which will be offered in two variants with price as mentioned below:
- Defender 110 2.0L 300PS – RM798,800
- Defender 110 3.0L 400PS MHEV – RM998,800
While the Defender 2.0L 300PS is powered by an Ingenium 4-cylinder direct-injection petrol engine, the Defender 3.0L 400PS MHEV as its name suggests, is powered by a mild hybrid powertrain comprising a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder petrol engine and a 48V electric supercharger.
Maximum torque figures for the Defender 2.0L 300PS and Defender 3.0L 400PS stand at 400 Nm and 550 Nm respectively.
In case you’re wondering how quick these things are, the Defender 2.0L sprints from 0 to 100km/h in 8.1 seconds while the more powerful Defender 3.0L does it in 6.1 seconds. Both versions max out at 191 km/h.
Built on a new D7x body architecture based on a lightweight aluminium monocoque construction, the new Defender is capable of towing up to 3,500kg, while the maximum static roof load limit is 300kg.
Dimensions wise, the new Defender 110 allows for ground clearance of 291 mm, and comes with a wheelbase length of 3,022mm (99mm longer than a Discovery), break-over angle of 28 degrees, and a maximum water-wading depth of 900mm.
Also part of the package is a new Wade programme in the Terrain Response system, which ensures drivers can wade through deep water with complete confidence.
Thanks to the introduction of air suspension, the Defender 110’s ride height can be raised up to 145 mm when needed, while the ‘Elegant Arrival’ feature automatically lowers the body by 40mm to aid access.
