PRO-NET, Proton New Energy Technology, and EV Connection (EVC), the operator of the JomCharge EV charging network, have launched the PRONET-EVC Condominium EV Charging Infrastructure Programme in an effort to ensure that Proton e.Mas 7 owners who live in apartments and condominiums will not have any issues with charging facilities in the future.
Through this initiative:
- Free EV Chargers for Condos: EVC will fund the installation of EV chargers at 100 condominiums that currently lack charging facilities.
- Affordable Rates: Competitive charging rates will be offered at these condominiums and at 70 others already on the JomCharge network.
This partnership supports Malaysia’s goal of 10,000 EV charging points by 2025 and helps residents in high-rise buildings—70% of Klang Valley’s population—access affordable charging facilities to encourage EV adoption.
Application for Chargers:
- Condominiums without chargers can apply via the EVC website. Approved applicants will receive a free package, including chargers, installation, compliance costs, and management tools. They can also benefit from a revenue-sharing program.
- Charging Rates:
- Market Price: RM 1.00/kWh
- New EVC Condos: RM 0.70/kWh
- Proton e.MAS 7 users: RM 0.63/kWh (from Jan 2025).
Proton e.MAS 7 Highlights:
- Bookings are open nationwide or via the Proton e.MAS app for RM500.
- Early bird offer includes RM500 rebate and a RM1,000 gift pack until the grand launch.
PRO-NET CEO Zhang Qiang emphasized the importance of making EV ownership convenient, especially for condo residents. EVC Managing Director Ir. Lee Yuen How added that the partnership aims to make EV charging more accessible and affordable across Malaysia.
