Proton recently launched a comprehensive support initiative to assist residents and victims affected by the gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights. This initiative follows the Malaysian government’s announcement of financial aid for the displaced residents.
In response to the immediate needs of the community, PROTON has allocated RM250,000 to assist those impacted by the fire, including individuals sheltered in temporary evacuation centers (PPS) like Dewan Masjid Putra Heights and Dewan Camelia, Subang Jaya City Council’s multi-purpose hall.
Recognizing that the financial aid offered may not fully address the needs of the affected residents, PROTON aims to provide additional support to ease their burdens during this challenging time.
Gas Pipeline Fire Causes Extensive Damage
According to Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat, the police chief, media reports revealed that the fire, caused by a gas pipeline rupture, engulfed a 500-meter stretch of land. The fire severely damaged 235 properties, with 87 homes completely destroyed and 148 others sustaining damage. Additionally, 399 vehicles were affected, including 225 cars directly damaged by fire and 174 vehicles affected by heat.
Vehicle Support and Assistance
To further support the community, PROTON has designated six service centers in the affected area to offer free assessments of all Proton vehicles impacted by the fire. These service centers will help assess the damage to affected vehicles and assist owners with insurance claims based on the severity of the damage. Whether the cars are still at the scene or have been moved for safety, PROTON’s team will ensure a thorough evaluation and guide owners through the repair process.
This service is designed to provide a clear path for vehicle repairs and insurance claim support, helping owners restore their vehicles to pre-incident conditions.
Li Chunrong, Chief Executive Officer of PROTON, expressed deep concern over the devastation caused by the fire in Putra Harmoni. “We are committed to supporting the affected community and providing meaningful assistance during this difficult time. Our financial contribution is intended to bring some relief to those who are struggling,” he said.
PROTON extends its deepest sympathies to all those affected by the disaster and is dedicated to aiding in the recovery efforts. For immediate assistance, affected individuals can reach PROTON’s 24-hour careline at 1-800-88-8398 or contact via WhatsApp at 012-219 5426.
