National automotive manufacturer PROTON introduced the 2024 PROTON X50 yesterday featuring the latest enhancements to its popular award-winning B-segment SUV model, marking another step forward in the brand’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction.

Since its launch in 2020, the PROTON X50 has been a success story for the company, with over 110,000 units having been sold, cementing its position as the best-selling SUV in Malaysia over the past four years. It’s popularity mirrors that of the Geely Binyue, the left-hand drive Geely model it is based on, which has achieved sales of over 770,000 units globally.

Now, the introduction of a series of upgrades for the 2024 model promises an even more technologically advanced and refined driving experience. Building on its predecessor’s legacy of being a trailblazer in the SUV category, the 2024 PROTON X50 sets a new standard with product upgrades that address feedback received from customers. The highlight among these enhancements is a new noise, vibration & harshness (NVH) package, which offers a quieter and more refined driving experience.

Over 20 areas have been improved for better road noise insulation, creating a better overall interior ambience. A power tailgate has also been added to Premium and Flagship variants for ease of operation.

The 10.3” infotainment head unit (IHU) in the 2024 PROTON X50 has been upgraded with a new dual quad-core processor unit providing faster bootup speed and loading time. This allows seamless operation of multiple apps concurrently in the foreground and in the background without any risk of intermittent response.

It also features the popular “Hi PROTON” voice command and PROTON Link app, that features the ability to start the engine and cool the cabin remotely.

The 2024 PROTON X50 delivers the ideal combination of safety and convenience with a new High-Definition 360 Camera, which displays crystal clear images even in low light conditions, making parking a breeze. Should the driver still feel uneasy, there is the Auto Park Assist function to complete the task. When operating the signal stalk, a 3D view of the surroundings will appear to reduce blind spots for safer lane change maneuvers and this safety feature is functional up to 150 km/h.

At the heart of the 2024 PROTON X50 is the 1.5 litre turbocharged direct injection engine with an output of 177 PS of power and 255Nm of torque, paired to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The combination enables this SUV to achieve a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of only 7.9 seconds. Safety comes in the form of six SRS airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), as well as level two Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Cumulatively, the product upgrades to the 2024 PROTON X50 deliver RM6,000 worth of added value to buyers, but PROTON is maintaining the price of its SUV. The company is also introducing a limited-time Early Bird Package offering incentives of up to RM8,500 to the first 5,000 customers who register their new purchase by 31 July 2024. Alongside its comprehensive package of benefits designed to enrich the ownership experience, the 2024 PROTON X50 comes with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty, five-year data package with 1GB per month and six times free labour service.

“The upgraded 2024 PROTON X50 represents PROTON’s dedication to continuously improve and innovate while maintaining the proven quality of our products that is expected by our customers. It offers a sporty design and enhanced features that maintains its position as a proven model suitable for a wide range of customers. Looking beyond the visual changes, it will also deliver exceptional value by combining strong performance with class-leading connectivity features backed by outstanding after sales service from 157 3S/4S outlets nationwide,” said Dr Li Chunrong, Chief Executive Officer, PROTON.
