Tata Motors Malaysia, in partnership with DRB-Hicom Commercial Vehicles today launched the Tata Super Ace and the Ultra range of trucks, aimed at those who are looking for light and medium duty trucks that are capable, yet competitively priced.
The Tata Super Ace is a 1 ton mini truck made for inter-city transportation solutions, powered by a 1,405 cc diesel engine producing 70 PS and 135 Nm of torque, with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 2,260 kg.
Key features of the Super Ace include 3-way adjustable seats, power steering, easy-to-operate power windows, semi monocoque structure, Brake Booster, gradeability of 39%, as well as a top speed of 125 km/h.
And then we have the Ultra range of trucks, comprising the Ultra 814 and the Ultra 1014, which are powered by the same 3.0-litre CRDI engine paired to a six-speed manual gearbox, producing 140 PS and 390 Nm of torque.
Both the Ultra 814 and the Ultra 1014 are mechanically identical, except for one key difference – the Ultra 814 comes with a gross vehicle weight of 7,500 kg while the Ultra 1014 comes with GVW of 10,400 kg.
Due to the difference in GVW, the Tata Ultra 1014 is bigger in size, measuring 8,055 mm in length, 2,205 mm in width, and 2,470 mm in height, with a 4,530 mm wheelbase, compared to the Ultra 814’s length of 7,058 mm, width of 2,255 mm, and height of 2,467 mm with a wheelbase of 3,920 mm.
